Cyberpunk 2077's endings are all launched from the same scene — the rooftop conversation before the final assault — but which options appear there was decided long before you arrived. Two of them cannot be chosen at all unless specific work was done earlier.
Short answer
Five routes off the rooftop: Arasaka, Rogue, Panam, letting Johnny take over, and walking away entirely. A sixth is hidden and requires Johnny to like you enough. Phantom Liberty adds a separate finale on top of all of it.
The Devil — take Arasaka's deal
Side with Hanako and let the corporation handle the relic. It is the route with the most institutional power behind it and by far the bleakest epilogue. If you want to see what the game thinks of corporate salvation, this is the answer, delivered at length.

The Sun — call Rogue
The solo route. You and Johnny hit Arasaka Tower with Rogue's help, and the epilogue turns V into the legend the game has been dangling since the first act. It also carries a cost in the tower that lands harder than most players expect.

The Star — call Panam
The Aldecaldos route, and the one most people describe as the "good" ending. It requires Panam's questline to be finished, which is the single most consequential piece of optional content in the game. You leave Night City, which is either hope or surrender depending on how you read the last shot.

Temperance — let Johnny take the wheel
Hand the body over. Johnny gets the life, V does not, and the epilogue is quiet in a way the others are not. It is the shortest route to the credits from the rooftop and the one least dependent on earlier choices.
Don't Fear the Reaper — the secret ending
Not offered in the menu. It appears only if your relationship with Johnny is high enough, and only if you wait through the rooftop conversation without picking anything — the game gives you a long silence and then an extra option. It is a solo assault with no allies and no safety net, and it is the hardest version of the finale by a distance.
Raising Johnny's opinion happens across the whole game: agreeing with him at key moments, taking his side in arguments, and completing his associated quests. It cannot be fixed at the end.
Walking away
The rooftop also lets you simply stop. It ends the game immediately, with no assault and no epilogue to speak of. Most players find it by accident and reload; it is a real ending, and the game does not blink.
Phantom Liberty's finale
The expansion adds its own conclusion, reached through the cure storyline rather than the rooftop. Choosing that path changes what the ending of the base game even means for V, and the expansion's internal choice — who you back in its final act — shapes which version of it you get.
It is not a replacement for the endings above so much as a different question being asked, and it is the strongest writing in the game.
What to do before the point of no return
| If you want… | Do this first |
|---|---|
| The Star | Finish Panam's entire questline, including the late-game missions |
| The Sun | Finish Rogue's questline and the Johnny content tied to it |
| Don't Fear the Reaper | Side with Johnny consistently across the whole playthrough |
| Phantom Liberty's ending | Complete the expansion before starting the final mission |
| All of them | Save on the rooftop — the branch point is a single conversation |
Cyberpunk 2077 FAQ
Can I see every ending in one playthrough?
Yes, if you save immediately before the rooftop conversation. Everything except the secret ending is chosen there.
Which ending is canon?
None officially. The game is deliberately non-committal, and the sequel has not resolved it.
Is there a happy ending?
Not really — the closest are The Star and one branch of the expansion, and both come with losses attached.
Does the secret ending have better rewards?
No mechanical reward. It has the most demanding combat and the most personal epilogue.
Save on the roof. From there, every route except the secret one is five minutes and a different conversation away.
